Humboldt Bay Fire has long history of providing dedicated service to the Eureka Community for over 150 years. Humboldt Bay Fire is a Joint Powers Authority formed through the merger between the Humboldt No.1 Fire Protection District and the City of Eureka Fire Department in 2011. Humboldt Bay Fire serves the City of Eureka and the Greater Eureka area providing emergency services to our 55,000 residents, businesses, and visitors.

Humboldt Bay Fire is an “All Risk” emergency services agency that proactively and reactively responds with trained professional to meet the wide variety of challenges in our community. Our personnel are trained in Structural and Wild land Firefighting, Emergency Medical Services up to the Paramedic level, Technical Rescue, Water Rescue, Hazardous Materials, Urban Search and Rescue, Fire Investigation and more. Humboldt Bay Fire provides these services from 5 strategically staffed fire stations throughout the 55 square miles of the Eureka area and respond to approximately 8,000 calls for service a year. Our staff of 60 professional Firefighters are committed to delivering the highest level of professional and compassionate emergency services to our customers. We are individually and organizationally committed to serving the community within our core values of professionalism, respect, image, discipline and efficiency. Emergency response is only a portion of our service. We do the best for our community when we prevent emergencies from occurring. We endeavor to reduce risk and increase the resiliency of the community through proactive efforts, which include forecasting, planning, mitigation, and response.
Humboldt Bay Fire also provides proactive services to our community including CPR training, car seat installation, fire inspections, plan checks and educational presentations to community groups and schools. Humboldt Bay Fire also actively participates at the City and County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) when activated and continuously participates in disaster and multi-casualty training with our partner agencies. Humboldt Bay Fire participates in Mutual and Automatic Aid agreements with our neighboring local fire agencies and Cal Fire. These mutually beneficial reciprocal agreements allow Humboldt Bay Fire to deploy efficiently with the ability to provide or receive assistance to other fire agencies on larger incidents.Humboldt Bay Fire stands ready to respond day or night, with efficient and effective service delivered in a compassionate, respectful, and professional manner.
